Chennai would see a new retail store “Smiling Baby” being launched from this
Friday, Sep 26th 2014. The store was be inaugurated by Mr BA
Kodandarama Setty, Chairman & Managing Director, Viveks Ltd., who is
considered the “Pitamaha” of the Organised Retail business in India.
Smiling baby, will cater to a niche market - new born
children up to 6 years of age and provides a place for expecting mothers and
young parents to shop in a comfortable, affordable and friendly ambience. The
Adyar store is the first of a series of stores that will come in many locations
across Tamil Nadu in the coming months.
The store will be home to an array of Indian and
International brands - names like
Pigeon, Nuby, Chicco, Avent, JL Morrisons, Apple Baby, Fisher Price, Barbie,
Disney, Hotwheels, Funskool, Himalaya, Johnson & Johnson, Pampers, Mamy
Poko being a few of them.
The store will be one of its kind in the country -
spread over 1600 Sq Feet, and will have a well laid out play area and an
activity centre - where the young ones can spend time exploring the world of
toys and also engage in creative activities such as colouring, drawing,
painting, etc. The creation of kids at the store will be displayed in the walls
of Smiling Baby, which will also feature an exclusive Nursing Room for mothers
and ample car parking, Lift Facility and other amenities.
Speaking on the store and its value add to the parent
community, Santhoshi Shriram & S Shriram, first generation entrepreneurs
and the couple behind Smiling Baby added: “It will be our endeavour to bring
the best of products targeted at the niche and evolving kids’ segment. We’ve
tied up with the best of Indian and foreign brands, and plan to expand the
retail footprint of Smiling baby across Tamil Nadu in the next 3 - 5 years”.

working mother. Shriram, is a versatile retail professional, adjudged among the
“Top 50 Retailers in India” by Asia Retail Congress in Feb. 2014. Smiling Baby
is the result of the potential gap which the couple see in the baby care needs
in the country, and more so in Chennai / Tamil Nadu.
