The Child gives birth to the Mother

One of the most happiest moments in the life of a woman is during child birth. I would rather like to put it like this - the Child gives birth to the Mother when it is born. So true indeed.

The first moments after detecting pregnancy are quite enjoyable. You share the news with your hubby, your immediate family, close friends and probably with a few colleagues at work place. The culture to share the news is different in each country. In India, the couple and the close family remain tight-lipped until the fourth month or so, when the fetus takes a certain shape and is an position to grow comfortably and the Doctors are able to confirm that the fetus will now grow in the months to come. Thereafter begins nausea, vommitting and sleeplessness, restless days and nights. You crave to eat tasty food but refrain from having them. Advises flow from all around - elders in the family have a certain way of living and doing things. The younger generation is a lot more carefree. One needs to strike a balance between the two. Frequent road trips and tiring journeys are avoided although it is important to breathe fresh air as much as possible. Doctors advise exercise, especially walking, as much as possible. The idea is to remain fit. Diet restrictions fall into place, especially from a few who have delivered a baby before - hey, dont do this and dont do that... and so on.

And then comes the happy moments for the family, The Baby Shower. In Indian culture, it is celebrated differently across various communities and cultures. Family and Friends, Near and Dear ones, Extended Family and acquaintances drop over to wish you good luck. It is celebrated between the fifth and the ninth month in India across cultures.

The final check up around the 35th week is so damn exciting. Its just a few more days to go...

On the D Day, everything is set. Some prefer to have the delivery on auspicious occasions, some prefer it on rhyming dates and so on. Ultimately, the baby would step in to the earth when it feels so. In modern day deliveries, the husband is advised to be active along with the mother-to-be in all the activities, especially visits to Doctor, Walking, Exercising and so on. Many Gynecs these days offer the husband to be around at the time of delivery. One who has witnessed it would know the joy of the first cry... That's a landmark moment in ones life. The little baby weening when it comes out of the mother is so enchanting. Shortly thereafter, the newborn is wrapped in a towel and shown to the father by the Doctor and is in turn shown by the Father to the relatives waiting eagerly outside. The whole floor outside the Operation Theatre bursts into joy and applause.

And thus, two lives are born, one is newborn and the other is reborn.

Motherhood is the most special gift nature has provided human beings in this world. Those who have gone through would understand how it feels to deliver a baby after nine months of sheer excitement.
